Bracelets

Its safe to say that bracelet stacking is a huge trend. I love this trend and I know it can be overwhelming when deciding which bracelets to buy so I thought I’d share my all time favorites. I pretty much wear the same jewelry everyday so I have two main sets of bracelets that I alternate depending on my outfit. Lets start with the staples, regardless of the stretch bracelets I wear, I always wear my gold cuff from Satya and my small silver cuff from David Yurman. I have unusually small wrists so it took me forever to find these cuffs, but I bought the gold one because it can be squeezed smaller and I bought the silver one because its from the baby collection so its small.

My first bracelet look contains dark colors; one blue, one silver and one pearl. All three bracelets have gold charms hanging off (the blue has a moon, the silver has a sun and the pearl has a lotus flower, all from Satya).

My second bracelet look contains more earthy colors; one brown, one multi-color green, and one orange. The brown and orange bracelets have gold charms hanging off, while the multi-color green has a silver charm (all three charms are the tree of life, all from Satya).

Transitional Look

[Scarf] Forever 21
[Tank top] Nordstrom BP
[Jeans] BDG Urban Outfitters
[Purse] Marc by Marc Jacobs
[Earrings] Vintage

This past week has consisted of cool mornings and warm afternoons, which is perfect for leisurely runs and outdoor dining but it is not so easy to select an outfit for this ideal weather. However, this past weekend I was particularly satisfied with my outfit selection. I paired a stylish pair of BDG Urban Outfitters tie dyed jeans that are embellished with studs around the pockets with a simple black racer back tank and light weight cotton scarf. The cotton scarf provided warmth in the morning as it acted as a shawl, however in the afternoon when the temperature rose the scarf became an accessory. I also selected a no fuss chain link over the shoulder purse and vintage earrings to complete the look.

If its not broken...don't fix it...

After hastily packing for a weekend out of the city I realized that all the outfits I picked, even my pajamas, followed the same design logic - patterned bottom and plain top.  In fact, all the bottoms are from the same store, Forever 21, and 2 of the 3 tops are from the same store, Nordstrom.  While the pajama top is from Victoria's Secret.  As they say, if its not broken, don't fix it!

Outfit 1:
[jacket] Abercrombie and Fitch
[tank top] Nordstrom BP
[leggings] Forever 21

Outfit 2:
[pajama bottoms] Forever 21
[pajama top] Victoria's Secret

Outfit 3:
[tank top] Nordstrom BP
[skirt] Forever 21
[watch] Marc Jacobs
[shoes] Tory Burch

Current Obsessions

I’m looking forward to, and mildly stressing out over, the coming weeks. I have a jam packed schedule full of lots of fun activities in a lot of interesting locations. First up, this weekend I will be running a half marathon. I am very excited that my 12 weeks of training are almost completely behind me and it is almost time to compete! The following week I am off to Chicago, followed by a weekend in Baltimore for my good friend, Victoria’s, wedding. Finally, what I am looking forward to most – a week in Aruba with Mike. I’m looking forward to what everyone tells me will be the most relaxing vacation of my life with my best friend.

My crazy schedule has really suppressed my creativity and prevented me from writing blog posts. I want to fill you in on a few things that I am really enjoying right now:

1. It is almost seasonally appropriate to wear my two favorite fabrics – eyelet and dotted Swiss.
2. Sephora brand mascara. I’ve been blessed with long full lashes and have never needed to go out of my way to enhance them. Usually I stick with mascara that can be purchased at the grocery store. However after trying a sample of the Sephora brand mascara, I am hooked. I have had multiple people ask me if I got eyelash extensions – yes, that good!
3. Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Pillow Mist. This darling little spray smells amazing on my sheets and helps me relax after a long day
4. New black patent leather flats purchased at Target on sale for only $12!
5. I dug these little stud earrings out when scouring my jewelry boxes for accessories to wear at Victoria’s wedding. Vic has requested that the bridesmaids wear pearl accessories, and when I came across these I knew they would be perfect. The simple pearl stud is enhanced with a smaller diamond stud below.
6. My new golf glove! Now that the weather is finally warm, I’ve been enjoying taking golf lessons and going to the driving range. However, I haven’t enjoyed having my hands torn up. My new glove is both functional and fashionable.

Pop of color

My winter uniform tends to be black, black and more black.  However this year I’ve been making a conscious effort to switch things up a little bit.  The other day I embellished my long sleeved black shirt and black dress pants with a thin turquoise ring and turquoise necklace made up of several strands of beads.  This 70’s inspired look helped break up the normally drab work week and was a hit at the office!

Hidden Gems

Costume jewelry is one of the greatest trends that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. While my style is constantly changing, one thing that stays the same is my desire to add feminine touches to every outfit. It is so easy to buy bold, chunky jewelry these days on an intern’s budget. The problem with the mass selection and the low prices, however, is that it’s easy to get stuck dressing like Amber from the movie Clueless. An always classic outfit is jeans and a black t-shirt paired with one statement piece, heels or flats, you can never go wrong with this look. Potential fashion victim fears aside, I have decided to round up my favorite pieces of costume jewelry and share them with the world. Happy Accessorizing!
